The Commerce Bank branch office located a mere jaywalk from my apartment has closed, so now I have to drive a little furthur to get my bad news. Lately though, I've been in very high demand at the office and have found myself working more than double the hours I have before. I'm suddenly financially secure, a notion reinforced by the fact that I caught myself NOT silently praying when I checked my account balance this afternoon. My newfound fiscal liberty has made me a little impulsive though, like I'm surfacing to breathe the sweet air of moderately carefree spending for a few seconds before sinking back into debt, only I sink faster because in those few seconds I manage to buy a dozen books, a stereo, and lunch at Blueberry Hill. With drinks.
To wit, here is the food I have in my house: 1 packet of ramen noodles (shimp flavored), half of a loaf of wheat bread, some pork and beans, half a box of farfalle pasta, coffee, and a stockpile of condiments that is sadly disproportionately large to the amount of foods it should be complimenting. That's it. And despite these conditions, a few hours ago I spent $17 on a Charles Bukowski book...
"there are worse things than
being alone
but it often takes decades
to realize this
and most often
when you do
it's too late
and there's nothing worse
than too late."
...and the satisfaction of a steak dinner can't even begin to compare.
